Conversations with AIRDA insider,
Santhosh Abraham
Santhosh Abraham wears many hats at AIRDA – the All India Resort Development Association. AIRDA is an independent, non-profit advisory dedicated to the timeshare and vacation ownership industry.
He is a key member of the activity hub at AIRDA, handling managing committee interactions, new member outreach, and promotion. Other responsibilities include overseeing accounting & finance and playing an active role in responding to end-customer queries.
Over the last 12 years that he has been with the organization, Santhosh has gained a useful insider's perspective on AIRDA's road map and its constructive role for timeshare in the tourism industry.
In this interview, we chat with Santhosh about the many roles played by AIRDA, and how these roles can leverage ethical practices and transparency to benefit industry stakeholders, resort operators, and end-customers.
Here's our first question to Santhosh Abraham.
You mentioned multiple roles, what roles does the organization play?
There are many roles that we play but to answer your question I will outline three roles. Level One is what I would consider our most important role. We offer our members who are resort developers a constructive platform to share ideas and strategies on the running and promotion of timeshare. (In fact, this is what AIRDA is largely about.)
In a way, Level Two is just as important and this goes to the end-customer's side of the story. A key objective here is to raise awareness levels of consumer rights and responsibilities – because, under the AIRDA banner, we are essentially working towards the organized sector of the timeshare industry. Another objective here is to offer guidelines and tips on choosing the right timeshare packages.
At Level Three, AIRDA brings together the combined strength of its members – representing the voice of the industry. We share current and ongoing concerns within influencer circles and government departments that have timeshare and vacation ownership under their purview.
What does an AIRDA membership mean to resort owners and developers?
One of the most reassuring things about the AIRDA community is that membership is voluntary. If resort owners can identify with our mission and purpose, they are free to join us. The core managing committee at AIRDA has senior, board-level representation from member resorts (by rotation) - what this means, is that the organization has the direct and active participation of its key members.
Let me now try and answer your question on some of the benefits of an AIRDA membership to resort owners.
