Green Initiatives at Rosetta-Sakleshpur

At Rosetta, we are resolute in our commitment to reducing our environmental impact. By embracing sustainable practices and continually seeking innovative solutions, we strive to make a positive difference in the world around us.

Our commitment to environmental stewardship is heartfelt and ingrained in every aspect of our operations. We believe that it is our responsibility to safeguard the planet for the well-being of present and future generations.

Here are some of the green initiatives we have implemented at Rosetta-Sakleshpur:

Introducing eco-friendly materials and processes
Our design plans for the resort prioritize energy efficiency at every stage. This includes construction practices that specify the use of eco-friendly materials and processes. Our careful selection of rooftop tiles is a good example of this - keeping the resort cool in summer and warm in winter.

With a scientifically-driven approach to minimize the environmental impacts associated with construction and design, we have also introduced changes right across the supply chain. One good example of this is reducing the distance traveled to procure construction materials and other related inputs - which means “sourcing local”, or as close to local as possible.

Reinventing our energy consumption practices
Energy consumption happens in two ways - energy consumed by guests, and energy consumed by staff, office equipment, kitchen equipment, and other back-end processes. We aim to look at individual consumption patterns and come up with solutions that make a difference. The idea is to conserve without limiting existing energy needs and consumption.

Here is one good example of savings made in guest rooms. To conserve energy we have implemented occupancy sensors that automatically reset and regulate energy consumption when guests are not present in their rooms.

Working towards a visible carbon-negative footprint
We aim to transform our resort into a carbon-negative establishment, and one of the ways we are doing this is by planting 15,000 trees at Rosetta-Sakleshpur. This will lead to a progressive increase in the absorption of carbon dioxide and a healthy release of oxygen by way of photosynthesis.

This way Rosetta will contribute to the annual sequestration of approximately 375 tons of carbon dioxide. We aspire to surpass the status of being a mere carbon-neutral resort and become a resort with a negative carbon footprint.

Fostering a harmonious and eco-friendly environment
We have introduced organic management practices for plants and trees at the resort, ensuring a fair degree of sustainability.

As part of this commitment, we carefully collect and compost vegetable food waste, transforming it into nutrient-rich organic compost. This compost is then utilized to maintain and enhance our beautifully landscaped areas, fostering a harmonious and eco-friendly environment.

Additionally, all waste generated within our premises is carefully sorted, recycled, and composted, ensuring that we minimize our environmental footprint.

Regulating water consumption to ensure minimal resource wastage
For enhanced water efficiency indoors, we have installed low-flow bathroom fixtures, as well as dual-flush toilets. This concern for saving water is shared across other key areas of operation in the resort to ensure optimal efficiency and minimal water usage.

Here are two more examples of water-saving measures at the resort. Our sewage treatment plants (STP) efficiently collect, process, and discharge the treated wastewater that can be used in our gardens. Additionally, we have constructed an artificial pond to capture rainwater, which is then used in our polyhouse and for landscape watering.

Our farm-to-plate approach to culinary offerings
Our menus at the restaurant showcase regional ingredients and locally inspired flavors. This stems from our commitment to locally-sourced fresh and seasonal produce for our culinary needs.

Our farm-to-plate approach goes one step further to ensure that every ingredient in our cuisine plans and menus underlines the focus on quality and sustainability.

Innovations through hydroponic farming techniques
By employing hydroponic farming techniques we ensure reliable, predictable, and repeat-cycle deliverables from our organic farms. Our hydroponic system nourishes plants without the need for soil through the use of carefully balanced nutrients in the water used.

This innovative method offers several advantages over traditional farming practices, including reduced water and land usage. The result is a superior quality product that delivers overall quality, enhanced taste, texture, and nutritional value.

Making investments in organic practices
How do we procure organic produce for our culinary needs? The organic farm on our premises provides fruits, vegetables, edible flowers, and herbs – always sourced fresh for our restaurant meals and bar beverages. Our restaurant also sources organic produce from local supply partners who share our commitment to organic practices.

Even our bath product supplies to rooms and spa treatments are carefully chosen with an organic template in mind to give our guests the benefit of holistic practices.

Committing to environmental stewardship
As an extension to our efforts in environmental stewardship, we have implemented a hard-working initiative that prioritizes the protection of bee habitats and promotes essential pollination.

Through this, we actively support the health and well-being of honey bees at the property while enabling the pollination of flowers in our gardens. Our commitment here plays a vital role in preserving bee populations and ensures the sustainability of their vital ecological role.

Rosetta-Sakleshpur is committed to environmental stewardship and sustainability. And we strongly believe that luxury can be enjoyed without hurting the planet.

Together, let us create a greener, more sustainable future for all.
